Sustainability and digitalisation: a journey to new markets. Comparing expectations and reality in obtaining Equalitas Certification

Obtaining the sustainability certification is a topic that has captured the attention of companies in all sectors, particularly the wine industry, in recent years. Wineries are facing major investments to meet the regulations inherent in business management systems. Talking about sustainability in the wine sector means addressing the issue by connecting different factors: environmental, economic and social. Businesses today find themselves wanting to pursue the set goal by minimizing the social and environmental impact of production activities. Sustainability is transforming from a “competitive plus” to a “conditio sine qua non.” Already in Northern European markets, retailers are aiming to certify their suppliers, requiring compliance with internationally recognized sustainability protocols, including Equalitas, one of the benchmark standards for sustainable wine management and promotion. The expectation is that growth will continue, albeit with distinctions in the architecture of the phenomenon.

In this scenario, Digital transformation comes to the aid of wine companies, thanks to the great possibilities it offers in terms of data collection and processing, and, above all, standardization of processes related to sustainability itself. During the session we will analyze the point of view of the certifying body Equalitas and listen to the digitization experience of the Consorzio Tutela Prosecco Doc.
