Harshal Shah

Harshal Shah lived in India between 2007 and 2012. Whilst there, he was Contributing Editor of Sommelier India, India’s only wine magazine. As well as writing about wine, Harshal consulted to wine industry bodies – including the Indian Government – and to Indian wineries.

He was Chair of India International Wine Fair’s Industry Conference in 2008 and 2009 and was a source of market intelligence for international wineries looking to enter the Indian market.

Indian Wine: A Push towards Premiumisation

There has been a concerted push within the top players of the Indian wine industry to highlight and expand the premium end of their portfolio (17 – 45 euros/ bottle). This also ties in with an effort to raise the profile of Indian wine both domestically and internationally. This session will provide a look into this trend and its results.
